Tailored Equine Therapy
Misty Mountain Equine Assisted Learning offers a safe, empowering and nurturing space in South Burnett where people of all ages and abilities can grow emotionally, socially and personally through meaningful, guided interactions with horses.
Why Equine Therapy?
Horses are intuitive, non-judgmental animals that mirror our emotions and respond to our body language. This creates powerful opportunities for self-awareness, emotional regulation, and connection. Because horses live in the moment and respond honestly, they offer immediate feedback in a safe, respectful way. For many, especially neurodiverse individuals, this opens up new ways to understand themselves and others.

Meet the Herd
Our horses are central to everything we do. Each one brings a unique personality and energy to the learning space. Get to know them when you visit and feel the difference a calm, grounded companion can make.
Meet Scout
Known for his grounded nature and patient demeanour, Scout is a trusted companion for those navigating emotional healing, anxiety, or simply seeking a quiet moment of reflection. He approaches each interaction with kindness and quiet confidence, which helps people feel safe and supported.
Scout is more than just a therapy horse — he's a steady friend, a great listener, and a reminder of the power of gentle presence.
Meet Frozen
A natural communicator, Frozen makes his needs and boundaries known with clarity and confidence. He's known for gently testing the rules, making him an excellent teacher for clients learning about trust, consistency, and assertiveness. Working with Frozen is a chance to grow in self-awareness and to practice setting healthy boundaries — because he’ll certainly let you know when you’ve crossed his!
Above all, Frozen thrives on attention and connection. He adores being groomed, talked to, and included in every activity, offering a warm, engaging presence that draws people in. His expressive nature and love for interaction make him a favourite among participants of all ages.
Whether he's teaching emotional regulation or simply offering a quiet moment of connection, Frozen brings heart and honesty to every session.
Meet Syd
With his steady temperament and strong, reliable build, Syd is perfectly suited to support individuals working through emotional, physical, or cognitive challenges. His calm demeanour helps create a soothing environment, allowing clients to build trust and confidence at their own pace.
Whether standing patiently beside a client or walking calmly through exercises, Syd embodies the essence of a therapeutic partner: gentle, dependable, and always present.
Meet Ranger
He values meaningful connection and responds best to calm, respectful energy. Once you’ve earned his trust, Ranger becomes a loyal companion and a powerful protector. His sensitivity allows him to mirror feelings in a way that fosters deep self-awareness and healing.
Ranger isn’t just a therapy horse — he’s a guide for those learning to open up, rebuild trust, and find their inner strength.
Meet Suzie
Despite her confident and sassy demeanour, Suzie is incredibly gentle and intuitive, making her a perfect partner in equine-assisted therapy. She has a knack for sensing emotions and knows just when to nuzzle in for comfort or stand quietly by your side.
Suzie is known around the paddock as the “queen with a bit of a clumsy streak” — she’s a little accident-prone, but always bounces back with spirit and a swish of her tail. Her resilience and warmth help clients connect with her easily, especially those who know what it feels like to stumble and get back up again.
Whether she’s leading with grace or tripping over her own hooves, Suzie brings strength, connection and healing to every session.
Meet Smarty
Having experienced her own trauma in the past, Smarty brings a unique depth of understanding to her therapy work. She approaches each person with empathy and patience, creating a safe space for healing and growth. Her ability to sense emotions and respond with calm presence makes her an incredible partner in the therapeutic journey.
Smarty loves to build strong, meaningful relationships and is especially attuned to those who need a little extra care. With her soft eyes and steady spirit, she reminds us that healing is possible — and often begins with a trusted friend.
NDIS-Friendly Services
We welcome NDIS participants who are self- or plan-managed. Each client begins with an intake session where we explore goals, create a tailored plan, and provide item codes to help access support.
